Windows Phone 8 App List (June 2013)

A few colleagues of mine recently starting using Nokia Lumia 920s running Windows Phone 8.  I’ve been using this same hardware and mobile OS for many months now, and thought I would help out with a quick list of apps that they might find useful.  I opened my phone and flipped over to the list of apps, and started writing them down – I was shocked that the list was so long!  Who says that this platform has an app problem!  Here is my list of apps I use on a fairly regular basis – this isn’t an all inclusive list – I have more than this installed, but these I use on a regular basis.

  1. Thanks for sharing – it’s very helpful since I reformatted my Samsung Focus yesterday and upgraded to Windows 7.8 and have to re-install all my apps :).

I would add the following to your list:
    – My Fitness Pal (great for keeping track of calories and exercise)
    – Wordament – great for taking a short break – games are only 2 minutes each.
    – Starbucks Finder – for some reason it has a better starbucks list than Bing Maps
-Yelp – great for finding restaurants and coffee shops close by (great for driving around places)
-One Note: I have the add a note feature pinned to my start screen – I am still trying to decide between One Note and Evernote – so I have both installed.

There are some apps that I wish were available for the Windows Phone:
    -Mint
    -MotionX GPS
    -Nook

  2. A Nook app is badly needed – I thought BN and Microsoft has some sort of alliance?

Those are also all good recommendations from Bethany…

I did leave OneNote off that list by accident – I do use it, and use the syncing feature all the time.

  3. Great list. I would include Adobe Reader and Cinamagraph. My wishlist includes Nook, SiriusXM and WatchESPN. Hopefully, those three will be made available soon.
